MANILA - Since appearing on the hit series "Ang Probinsyano" as the stubborn yet adorable Onyok, child actor Simon Pineda has become quite a household name, at least to viewers of primetime television.
He first made his TV debut when he joined the "It's Showtime" segment dubbed "Mini-Me" as a miniature version of rock icon Bamboo. But it wasn't until his breakout performance alongside Coco Martin in the long-running police drama that he endeared himself to Filipinos.
"Noong nilagay na namin siya sa camera, nakita namin 'yung pakabrilyo ng mga mata niya. Tapos nakita din namin 'yung the way na magsalita siya parang matanda," Martin said of Pineda, explaining the decision to cast the showbiz newcomer in the series.
