READ: Robredo visits typhoon Sendong survivors.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY- Vice President Leni Robredo visited survivors of typhoon Sendong (international name: Washi) in a relocation site in sitio Macapaya, Camaman-an on Saturday.
Robredo refused to talk to the press but spoke with the residents to assess their situation.
One of the major problems in the area is the lack of water supply, with residents depending on rainwater and small wells. Many residents also opt to buy water which costs P10 per container and P100 per drum.

Transportation is also a problem, with residents being forced to ride the "habal-habal" (singe motorcycle) which charges a one-way fare of P50. Without it, students are forced to endure a four-kilometer walk to the nearest public school.
“Sendong” struck just days before Christmas in 2011 and was the deadliest storm that year, claiming close to 1,000 lives.
Robredo promised assistance to the residents to minimize their daily expenses. Consultations with poor communities are part of Robredo's plan for her first 100 days in office.
After the visit, the vice president went straight to Laguindingan Airport to head back to Manila.
